Rule Changes
Each year at Nationals we have an option to look at the rules and make changes. Anyone can submit a proposal. It must be in writing and turned in 30 days prior to the meeting at Nationals. At the Rules Meeting it will be discussed and voted upon. Below will be a synopsis of the most recent rule changes. Full Rule Change Results
- Additional requirements for the Corner Judges & Chief Referees are still under consideration
- WKF gloves & footgear may be worn in sparring division
- 8-9 & 10-11 Boys kumite divisions – now purple may be split to go with brown & black ranks. leaving green & blue as intermediate.
- When grabbing during sparring, a technique must immediately follow, the 3 second rule has been removed.
- When sweeping, you can sweep from the inside and the outside of the front foot only. Must still be boot to boot.
- Clarification of sweeping rule. No hip or leg throws.
- Tournaments must be schedule with Headquarters at least 90 days in advance and should not conflict with Regional or State Championships.
